[Alucard]

“I would agree with you on that point that Detroit is colder than most places. It seems that things never go the way you hope, but instead veer off course and take you onto an entirely different path than the one you were on. I know this evening has begun to turn on a somber note, each of us reflecting on things from the past that haunt of still, but let me show you something that might be interesting to you. It is a prototype and still needs lots of development work on it, but I am sure you might get a kick out of it Cassie.” Laughing as he said it trying to lighten the mood.

[Cassie Hunter]

Cassie looked up at him and felt a smile appearing on her face "Okaylet me see the prototype." She said putting the glass down and getting up from the floor where she had been sitting.

[Alucard]

“It is quite an interesting project an interesting project and has applications across the spectrum, it may even help you in your line of work once the bugs are worked out of the system” Alucard said as he led Cassie into the living room of his penthouse toward the video wall and the computers rack of computers that took up most of the available space that the video wall didn’t.

As he approached within two feet of the system …

“Good evening Alucard, you have 139 new email messages, 3 voice messages, 2 project status reports pending …

“Cancel catalog report, initiate project vision”

“Command acknowledge” came the feminine voice Alucard’s computer system.

I wish I hadn’t left that astrolabe in your apartment now, it would really show you what this device can do once I have the bugs worked out of it, but I guess you will have to happy with the Rubic’s Cube that I am working with.” Alucard told Cassie as he motioned toward a small black pedestal sitting off to the side with a Rubic’s cube sitting in the middle of it.

"what is it" she said with wonder obvious in her voice and her expression ... looking more at Alucard than at the mechincal thing.

[Alucard]

“It is an electron imaging system, sort of an electron microscope without the steroids. The device is suspended in a magnetic field while three lasers capture the object in three dimensions. This 3D image is them display in an enhanced 3d image much like a hologram except this image can be resized to the user’s content. For instance if you are looking for a defect in an object you can create a grid around the object and then zoom in on a particular grid location revealing the flaw and even repair the flaw. As Alucard was speaking an holographic image of the Rubic’s cube appeared about two feet in front of the pedestal that contained the cube, a perfect replica blow up to six time it normal size.

[Cassie Hunter]

"oh... you can try with my ring" she said beginniong to peeloff her engagement ring still staring at the cube in wonder "...you know what?" she then looked up at him with a huge smile.

[Alucard]

Alucard wasn’t sure if he should accept the offer of using her ring. It seemed to him that she nearly broke out in tears when he asked about it earlier in the evening. He decided if she handed it to him he would use it, maybe it might help her overcome whatever tragedy that had occurred in her life.

[Cassie Hunter]

"Don't worry about it - I am sure you won't make it disappear or destroy it" she said while handing him the ornate obviously old silverring and continued "But back to my point - why is it I don't have this machine when I need to check jewellery for flaws and see the pattern on them"

[Alucard]

“I won’t destroy it and I definitely won’t be able to make it disappear. After all I am not a magician.” Alucard replied as he took the ring that Cassie offered to him. Turning toward the bank of computers Alucard issues another voice command to the system. “Terminate current analysis Rubic’s cube, new project Cassie’s ring.

“Command acknowledged” once again permeated the air as the image of the Rubic’s disappeared from view and the pedestal upon which the cube was now suspended, settled once more upon it. “Please place object on pedestal.” came the voice once more as Alucard move to replace the cube with Cassie’s ring.

[Cassie Hunter]

Cassie looked fascinated at the blown up holographic version of her ring. seeing all the details, but avoiding the three scratches on the side, even more clearly made her fall in love with the ring all over and brought all the happy memories back to her. When she finally came back from remembering she turned her head slightly towards Alucard and looked at him again to turn back and silently mouth a "Thank You".

[Alucard]

“You’re welcome.” Alucard replied as he watched Cassie’s face as she looked at the holographic version of her ring with it ornate details and what appeared to be several scratches along one of the sides. “I still have a lot of work to do, but it is progressing well, once I complete the prototype it has a lot of different practical applications as you can tell.” Turing once more to the bank of computer Alucard once again issues a voice command and the holographic image dissipates with Cassie’s ring now sitting on the center of the pedestal. Alucard picks the ring and replaces it with the Rubic’s cube he had been holding. “As you can see I make a very poor magician, I told you I couldn’t make your ring disappear.” Smiling as he handed the ring back to Cassie.

[Cassie Hunter]

"I would be that harsh" she said taking her ring grinning "you did make it abmoramally big " .... and then hurriedly added "in a good way of course"

[Alucard]

Taking a small bow Alucard glances over his shoulder toward the pedestal that held briefly Cassie’s ring before facing Cassie once more. “It’s only a prototype and it still has a lot of bugs to be worked out, but as you can tell it has a lot of potential. I will admit though I can make small things incredibly large.” replied a smiling Alucard.

[Cassie Hunter]

Casie just quiely laughed at the last bit and then added"... I will have to try and persude you to let me use it some point. It probably would be invalurable when restoring lock mechanisms and cleaning."

[Alucard]

“I have high hopes for this project Cassie, but as I mentioned earlier this is just a prototype and has a lot of bugs to be worked out of the system. But still I may let you persuade me to let you use it sometime in your work, since it may help me with the system development, by exposing it to real world situations.” Now what is the real world thought Alucard as he chucked to himself.
