Cassie let slip another brief glimpse into her past before suddenly catching herself thought Alucard as he stepped into the foyer from the elevator. “Was she about to say that she was from Romania? “He thought moving a few steps into the foyer. The foyer was small room more of a short hallway than an actual room with a set of double doors one straight ahead about ten feet ahead and another immediate to the right a fire door about fifteen away. The fire door to the right had a placard attached to it that had a symbol of a set of stairs with the word “Stairs” to the right of the stairs symbol. Below that was the words “Roof Access Authorized Personnel Only”
Alucard headed straight for the double doors coming within five feet before saying his name in a clear and precise voice, “Alucard.” The double doors to Alucard’s penthouse began to swing inward as Alucard stepped to the side allowing Cassie to enter him penthouse bowing slightly and waving his arm slightly toward her and the door. This maneuver seemed a bit awkward since Alucard’s hands were filled with their dinner.

Cassie kept avoiding to look at him - a bit ashamed that she almost revealed something again about her old life "This is so beautiful" she said not being able to keep mum as she saw the view from the top of the roof

Alucard had erected a small work shed on the roof near the roof access door. After bringing Cassie and handing her the food he disappear for a few moments returning with a bottle of red wine and glasses. he also opened a work shed that he had erected near the roof access door and removed a small table and chairs and set them up near where Cassie stood staring into the Detroit night lights."It is a beautiful view, to say the least" Alucard replied as he set up the table and chairs facing the lights of downtown Detroit.

"it is indeed" she said looking out on the city. Cassie stood there staring a bit not being aware of the world behind and around her for a couple of minutes "so food?!" she suddenly turned and said...

"It is already laid out" answered Alucard as he pulled out a chair and indicating Cassie should have a seat. Once she was seated Alucard poured her a glass of the wine he had bourght up and then took took the other seat. Raising his glass " to an enchanting evening with a beautiful lady and intiging dinner conversation."

"intriging even?" she said looking a bit scepticl at him "are you sure you're not overestimating either of our skills?" Cassie began poking the food in the white containers.

Cassie laughed after he insisted she would be good at engaging in dinner conversation "I did not tell how I was at it. Or what the standard in our family was. " she softly pointed out hinting that he might not be quite right. Cassie dived into the boxes again and took a sip from her wine "I would like to know more about you though - shall we play the question game you talked about earlier?" she had adopted a mock polite posh voice.

"Okay, I am game. Plus it will be an aperitizer to the twenty questions I will ask when I win." as he reached into one of the boxes with his chopsticks to place some of the food on his plate. "Ladies first."

Looking at up at Cassie as he manupiated the chop sticks, he paused briefly before answering because he was actully 47, but he had his aging had slowed down trmendously since then and he still resemble a 31 year old man, the same age he was when he had been turned into a vampire. "I am 31," he replied . "And now for my question, Cassie. What country are you from?" using the chopsticks to pick more food.

Cassie had feared a question like that or at least hope he would have started out with something else - she had continued to try and forget what she had left behind " ... I lived my life in Bulgaria" she answered honestly "... and you're only 31 ... really?"

"Bulgaria, I would have thought maybe Romanian or Moldovan. Yes, I am 31, but sometimes I feel as if I am older like in my later 40's or early 50's." he replied even though he was actually 48. He had been a vampire for 17 years and still looked as he did when he was first bitten. He didn't think she would believe him if he told her how old he really was.
